The blocks were not recorded and were not an official statistic until the 1973-74 season.

That's the reason why, although Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain are for sure the top shot blockers of all time, you won't find them here.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar , the only player to have led the NBA in scoring, rebounds and blocks at least once, blocked more shots per game than anyone 4 times, and he did it for two different teams, the Lakers and the Bucks.

Mark Eaton is also at the top of this list with his 4 season leading the league wearing the Jazz uniform. By leading the league in 2007-08, Marcus Camby also joined them at the top of this list.
